The Christmas holiday is often lengthy and overwhelming. It's filled with multiple events that all have food, drinks, sweets, and in excessive amounts. I mean the "season" really extends from Thanksgiving, into the unofficial holiday party season, of course the actual Christmas holiday with a coast into the New Year. Then on top of that, you know have a new load of toys, games, clothes and many other items that need to find a new home in your already cluttered home. No wonder many of us are in need of some damage control. Luckily, we can do something about it. It's "out with the old, in with the new" kind of concept or a "detox" for lack of a better term.
Here's 3 ways you can detox to start your new year right.
Your House

There's more than one way to "detox" your house but post-holidays the biggest challenge in front of you is a binge and purge session along with a "take back the house" strategy. I know for me, packing up the holidays is quite a daunting task but thank goodness for my Target Totes (which are currently on sale) packing up is fairly quick and organized.
But then I have to look at the pile of cardboard, bags of wrapping paper and plastic forms everywhere and an explosion of gifts everywhere waiting for a home. My process has always been one of strategy and precision. I organize everyone's gifts but before I put a single thing away, I go through everyone's stuff and purge out the things that aren't being used, no longer fit, or just simply don't serve their purpose anymore. Believe me, it's almost sickening the amount of things I collect but it's also a great time to donate before the end of the year to go towards your tax write-offs for the year. Be sure to get a receipt! Here's a list of places to donate your items. Out with the old, before in with the new.
Your Health

After a heavy dose of sugar, foods that are filled with darn near everything and of course all the holiday spirits, your body is overwhelmed! There are multiple areas of your body that are impacted and the damage control just as complex. First and foremost, hydration is key!
Water accounts for 60 percent of your body and is essential to every cell so a lack of it causes suffering in a multitude of ways. It help keeps your body temp cool, your joints lubricated, your body clean and moving and your skin elastic. All good things right?
Besides rehydrating, your body has also been lacking Fiber. I know my body and all of it's working parts are "angry" after the sugar and carb binge during the holidays. Starting after the New Year celebration is a MANDATORY cleanse. Nothing like a colon blow at any rate but gentle and uneventful. My go-to product is the Advocare 10-Day Herbal Cleanse. It's like an oil change for your body. It gets out the gunk and gets your body in the right state to actually absorb the good nutrients you give it (which I would hope you plan to do) and overall help your system run more smooth. Get your body back in order and into a routine as quickly as possible. You don't need a resolution to do it. Just do your body good!
Your Mind
There is something so amazing and powerful. Our mind. Put to the right use, it can make huge differences in your outcome. There's an old saying, what you put out is what you put back. Positivity and negative both breed more of its own. If you are like me, you love personal development. Videos, blogs, books and documentaries that challenge your thinking and inspire you to seek more. One of my favorite daily books is The Secret (The Law of Attraction). There's also a video on Netflix. I challenge to think about what you are putting out there. Your circumstances are an accumulation of your choices. What you dwell on grows. Thoughts become things. Get a hold of where you are focusing and what you are thinking about. Stop saying "I can't, I don't, I won't" and start thinking "I can, I do and I will".
